MANGALORE: With Tulu films coming of age with the box-office hit, ‘Oriyardori Asal’ (one smarter than other), the Tulu film Industry has woken up to the need of a separate film chamber.Vijaykumar Kodialbail who shot to stardom with Asal, mooted the need for a separate chamber for the Tulu film industry, during an interaction at meet-the-press programme organised in Patrika Bhavan on Thursday.Vijaykumar Kodialbail said that the difficulties he faced while associating himself with the Kannda film industry and the rules while releasing his films, made him realise its need. “If nothing, an association of people involved with Tulu films would help upcoming artists and producers of Tulu films,” he said.Vijaykumar Kodialbail highlighted an instance where the film chamber had restricted him from offering opportunities to local artists in dance numbers. “A Tulu film chamber would encourage growth of the industry too,” he felt.Highlighting the records smashed by his film, he said that ‘Asal’ is the first film with the highest viewership. He confessed to being elated, on being informed that nearly eight Tulu titles had been registered with the Karnataka Film Chamber.Producers from Tamil and Kannda film industry contacted him for dubbing rights, he revealed.“The story and profession of one of the lead character in the film reflects the unique culture in coastal regions. If it is dubbed to other languages, the audience would not relate to the characters, so I am less hopeful of its success in other languages, he confessed. To another query he said Asal cannot be called as a fantastic movie, as there were mistakes. But I am hopeful of making ‘fantastic films’ in future, Kumar confessed.
