Two held for possessing explosives

RAJAPALAYAM: Two persons from Dalavaipuram, near Rajapalayam were arrested on Monday on a charge of carrying explosives without permit.A police team on patrol duty noticed the duo standing near the bus stand in a suspicious manner. When questioned, they gave their names as Samuel Thangaraj (36), of Meenakshipuram, and Ramasubbu (32), of T Reddiapatti, Tirunelveli. The cops found 85 gelatine sticks and 50 detonators kept inside their bags. Police are looking for Ramasamy, of Sankarankovil, who supplied the explosives.Two Houses Burgled As much as 14 sovereigns of gold jewellery were stolen from two houses in Tirupur on Sunday.According to police sources, ten sovereigns of gold were stolen from the house of Devaraj (43) of KVR Nagar here.  Similarly, four sovereigns and `3,000 were stolen from the house of Senthilkumar (33) at Ganapathipalayam.
