Two held in NIA officer murder case in UP
On April 4, NIA officer Tanzil Ahmed was shot dead in Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh.

Bijnor (UP): Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of NIA officer Tanzil Ahmed and said domestic dispute was the reason behind the crime.

IG (Bareilly Zone) Vijay Kumar Meena told a press conference that the trio followed on motorcycle the NIA Deputy SP after a wedding reception of a relative on the intervening night of April 2 and 3.

He said the nephew of Ahmed's brother-in-law Rehan and his accomplice Zainul have been arrested and added that the police would soon nab the alleged mastermind Muneer.

Investigation revealed that it was Muneer who masterminded the attack but the reason behind the killing is yet to be known.

They overtook his vehicle at Sahaspur village and one of them, identified as Muneer, allegedly pumped bullets in his body killing him on the spot, he said. His wife was critically injured in the shootout, but his two children escaped unhurt.

About the motive of the crime, Meena said it was borne out of domestic dispute, family matters and share in a property deal.

DGP Javeed Ahmed has announced a reward of Rs 50,000 to anyone who helped in his arrest.

The incident had taken place on April 3 when Ahmed, earlier posted as an assistant commandant in BSF and on deputation to NIA, was returning to his home in Sahaspur village of Bijnor district with his family after attending his niece's wedding in a nearby village in the same district.
