BANGALORE: Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda accused the Lokayukta institution of being biased against his family and dancing to the tunes of senior BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa.“I charge the Lokayukta institution with having an unholy nexus with Yeddyurappa. It is evident that it is taking orders from him and going ahead with the probe against my son H D Balakrishne Gowda,” the JD (S) supremo said here on Saturday.Clarifying that he had not threatened Lokayukta ADGP Jeevan Kumar Gaonkar as reported in a section of media, Gowda, however, admitted to having spoken to him to know why the police security posted in front of his eldest son’s residence was withdrawn.“I had told that I will be forced to stage dharna in front of Yeddyurappa’s residence if this behaviour continued, which had been projected in a wrong manner,” Gowda explained. The former PM said that the motive to project him in a negative way will not succeed as his family is not involved in any wrong. He struck a contrast between the raids conducted on the premises of his kin’s residences and that of Yeddyurappa to buttress his argument.“The Lokayukta police spent an entire day to search documents in my son’s residence whereas the raid on the residence of Yeddyurappa’s family members was completed in two to three hours. Is this not blatant partisan?”Gowda went on to add: “Yeddyurappa had said that he was aware of the Lokayukta raids on the residences of his family members. It means that there is a clear understanding between him and the Lokayukta police.”Asserting that his family was not afraid of any kind of probe, Gowda disclosed that Balakrishne Gowda himself had written to the Lokayukta on October 7 that he would cooperate with the agency in conducting the probe. “Hence, is it not obvious that the Lokayukta is acting at Yeddyurappa’s behest?”
