PIRAVOM: The Pulinchuvadu Junction near Kakkoor in the Nadakkavu-Koothattukulam Highway has become an accident-prone area, The latest in the line involves a KSRTC low-floor bus colliding with a pickup van on Monday, critically injuring two persons. The driver of the van, Abdullakutty, 41, Malayidamkuzhiyil, Aluva, cleaner Ebrahim, 45, were admitted to a private hospital in Kochi. The junction has turned to be a nightmare for drivers as a dozen accidents were reported in the spot in four months and two persons were killed in an accident a few months ago. The local people blame the construction of the road as the reason for the mishaps. The visibility of drivers is very poor owing to a curve in the road and disproportionate banking of curve, residents of the area allege. Last month a tipper lorry rammed into a tempo carrying fish. Following complaints from the public, the Public Works Department has erected sign boards in the curve.
