The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced certain amendments in eligibility criteria of the UGC NET Exam 2017 which is going to be held in November 2017, this year. National Eligibility Test (NET) is a gateway for the aspirants of Assistant Professor and Research Fellow profiles. A new selection procedure has been incorporated for the preparation of the merit list based on the data analysis of the statistics of UGC NET examination results from the past two decades. The statistical figures of the candidates belonging to different castes and categories were analyzed by the UGC, based on which they’ve made certain amendments that are mentioned below:
What has changed in the Amendment of the Eligibility Criteria of UGC NET 2017?
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has proposed the following amendments:
i) The UGC NET candidates of Reserved Category were qualified with 15% result earlier which has been amended to 6% now.
ii) The Reserved Category candidates were given preference in the minimum cut-off list over the Un-Reserved Category which used to further outnumber the Un-Reserved Category Candidates. There is a proposal to change that too.
iii) The Age criteria will remain same.
The National Eligibility Test (NET) 2017 was earlier scheduled for July but was postponed by UGC causing a lot of stir and agitation amongst UGC NET 2017 aspirants. The July 2017 UGC NET Exam was scrapped due to a pending court case that caused a delay in results of the previous exam. Also, it is noteworthy that earlier the UGC NET Exam was held twice a year. However, going forward it is being discussed that it will be held just once in a year, although there’s no official statement for the same yet. UGC-NET Exam 2017 for the position of Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor will be held on 19th November 2017 (Sunday). Details of the Exam will be declared on the official website cbsenet.nic.in by 24th July 2017.
