New Delhi/Ujjain: The Ujjain professor murder case is becoming murkier by the day.

First the eyewitnesses in the case alleged threats and were provided security, now it’s the son of the slain professor, Himanshu Sabharwal who has alleged the same.

Himanshu says some unidentified persons claiming to be BJP workers threatened on Wednesday night threatened to kill him.

He said he was was standing in front of his house, three to four persons riding a motorcycle, claiming to be BJP workers, verbally abused him.

When he tried to talk back, the men threatened to kill him.He said he had lodged a complaint with the local Neelgandha police station and sought police protection.

According to Himanshu, he was assured that a police guard would be posted in front of his house.

Earlier in the day, Himanshu filed a complaint at a local court alleging Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan tried to influence the investigation into Prof Sabharwal's death by terming it as an accident and not a murder.

He also said that the state machinery was being pressurised to suppress the facts behind his father's death and has also sought a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the circumstances leading to the death of his father, a teacher in Madhav College.

He also raised questions about the procedures adopted to conduct tests on his father's heart. He said the organ was deliberately sent to the Medico Legal Institute (MLI) in Bhopal instead of the MGM College in Indore.

"When it was known that it was supposed to be sent to Indore for examination, then why was it was sent to Bhopal? It seems the entire state machinery is acting under pressure to suppress the facts," Himanshu asked.

Sabharwal's heart was returned by MGM College on the ground that legal norms were not followed by police before sending the organ to the institute.

When asked about MLI Director D K Satapathy's statement that the heart had been referred to MLI as it suggests the laboratories to which such samples should be sent for scientific tests and analyses, Himanshu said: "Even if the version of the MLI director is true, then why did the college authorities refuse to accept it?"
