Vadgaon Sheri MLA Sunil Tingre, who is reportedly close to the builder father of Pune accident’s 17-year-old accused, said that there is an attempt to give a “different colour” to his recommendation letter to Dr Ajay Taware.
Dr Taware was arrested on Monday for allegedly tampering with the blood sample of the juvenile who was driving the speeding Porsche which killed two software engineers.
Police had claimed the blood sample of the juvenile was thrown away in the dustbin and replaced by someone else’s blood sample. The matter came to light when DNA from both the samples did not match.
“The news about my letter of recommendation seems to be trying to give a different color to the subject. Since I am a public representative, many people come to me for recommendation letters. In certain work, like school admissions, medical treatment and transfer requests, recommendation letters are asked for,” Tingre said.
“Also, under each recommendation letter, it is mentioned that appropriate action should be taken after fulfilling the legal requirements. Therefore, it will not be appropriate to give a different turn to this subject. I have full faith in the judicial system and this matter will be clarified after the investigation,” the MLA from Ajit Pawar-led NCP added.
According to a report in Indian Express, the letter was written by Tingre on December 26, 2023 to the Minister for Medical Education and Research Hassan Mushriff and Dr Taware was appointed as the Medical Superintendent in the same year.
In his letter, Tingre recommended Dr Taware as personally known to him, the report stated. “During the Covid-19 crisis he had done commendable work. I request you to take proper steps at your level to appoint him as the Medical Superintendent,” the letter read.
IE stated that back then, Dr Taware was working as the Head and Professor of the Department of Forensic Science, post which he became the Medical Superintendent.
A report in The Free Press Journal had three days ago stated that Tingre, who is reportedly close to accused teenager’s father Vishal Agarwal, had also visited the police station late at night in an alleged effort to pressurise the cops into going easy on the drunk minor.
