Undertrial commits suicide in Farrukhabad jail

An undertrial lodged in a district jail allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday by hanging himself from a tree in the jail campus in Farrukhabad.

Sanjay Singh, who was arrested from Civil Lines area for carrying narcotics substance and was lodged in the jail since May 26 committed suicide this morning by hanging himself with his own cloth, Jail Suprintendent Kailash Chandra said.

His family members have alleged that he was innocent and was framed by the police. The victim was a tempo driver, police said, adding the probe is on in the matter.
