THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vanchiyoor Police have arrested two youths who were involved in duping travel operators by renting their vehicles and selling them in the black market. The accused were identified as Syam Raj, 20, and Vaisakh, 24, both of them hailing from Kallummoodu, near Anayara, in the city. The police said that the accused were arrested red-handed from Kunnumpuram, near Vanchiyoor, while trying to sell a Scorpio car which they had rented from Narmada Tours and Travels in Kochi the other day. They were arrested following a tip-off received by the police. Their modus operandi was to gain the trust of the travel operators by frequently availing their services before duping them. They were arrested by a team of police led by Pettah Circle Inspector R Haridas and Vanchiyoor SI Sathikumar. The accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
