A vegetable vendor was found murdered in the Ariyankuppam market here on Wednesday morning. According to superintendent of police (Rural) G P Pazhanivel, Jaganathan (60) of Kurinijipadi in Cuddalore district was found murdered at the market.
Jaganathan used to sell plantain stems (Vaazhathandu) at the market. A couple of days ago, an unidentified gang approached him demanding protection money for selling at the market, which he refused.
The vendor along with his wife Susheela (53) reached the market on Tuesday night and slept off . Next morning, Jaganathan’s body was found with the throat slit and chest crushed. The Ariyankuppam police had registered a case.
