BANGALORE: Former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad was caught quarrelling with senior police officials after they asked his wife Jayanthi to vacate the players’ zone at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Sunday night. The episode unfolded after an IPL tie between RCB and Deccan Chargers on Sunday night. Police officials said after the match, the police were clearing the way for the players to leave the stadium. Around 12.20 am, Jayanthi, her friend Shannon and an elderly man were standing in the players’ zone, through which the players had to pass. On seeing them, Krishne Gowda, Assistant Sub-Inspector attached to Cubbon Park station, asked Jayanthi to leave the area as it amounted to breach of norms. Jayanthi allegedly took objection to this and started hurling abuses at him, dropping her identity. She refused to heed to his repeated requests to vacate the area.“As she continued to abuse the ASI, other senior police officials and I rushed to the scene,” DCP Central division, B R Ravikanthe Gowda told Express.Meanwhile, Prasad rushed to the spot after Shannon called him over the phone. “Unwilling to understand that the police were doing their duty, he started raining abuses. He addressed the police, including me, in the singular. Though I tried to explain the norms to him, he was in no mood to listen,” Gowda said.“However, after a few minutes, he left with his wife and the two others. I had asked the ASI to submit a detailed report, which has been forwarded to the Police Commissioner. However, no case has been registered,” Gowda added.Attempts to reach Venkatesh Prasad for his reaction proved futile.
