Vettel and Alonso could team up: Ferrari
Even Bernie Ecclestone believes the Spaniard and German could co-exist as team-mates.

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has indicated that Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel could be paired up, after it was revealed that Vettel, the 2010 and 2011 world champion, has a pre-contract with Ferrari for 2014.

"I think they are both intelligent guys and they could easily co-exist together," Domenicali said.

Vettel's contract with Red Bull will expire at the end of 2014, and the German has repeatedly stated that he would love to drive for the team. Alonso's contract runs until the end of 2015, and even Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone believes it is a possibility that the pair become team-mates.

"All drivers want to drive for Ferrari at least once in their career, don't they? But I wouldn't advise him to as he's still too young. Usually a driver ends his career at Ferrari; therefore, it could happen one day," he told a German newspaper.

Asked whether Alonso and Vettel could be paired in the future, Ecclestone said: "That wouldn't be a problem. Both are drivers who are always looking for a new challenge and to be in the same team would be a new and big challenge.

"They would both think they can bear the other one, as they are sure of themselves, and Stefano would do what was required so that they were treated equally. It would be a case of doing what I did at Brabham in 1979 with Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet. I told them, 'Guys its simple: whichever one of you is quickest is the team number one'."
