ANGUL: Opposing land acquisition for coal mines, village representatives in the rehabilitation and peripheral development advisory committee (RPDAC) for Adani and Bhusan coal mines boycotted the RPDAC meeting on Tuesday.Stating that they were not prepared to forgo their land, four members of the committee declined the district administration’s invitation to attend the RPDAC meeting. They alleged that the district administration along with the Bhusan mining authorities are trying to dupe them and foist their views on the land acquisition. The sub-committee which was formed in the last RPDAC meeting is yet to find any solution to the land acquisition issues, they further alleged. However, the meeting of RPDAC was held under the chairmanship of Kishor Barik, the RDC (north), without village representatives. It was decided to hold the next sitting of the sub-committee on November 26 to decide on land compensation rate. District Land Acquisition Officer Tapan Satpathy said that as far as Adani coal mine is concerned, the site for resettlement colony has been selected.
