According to the STF, Madhya Pradesh Police constable Sanjay Yadav, a key witness in the Vyapam scam, died of prolonged illness five months back.

The Madhya Pradesh Vyapam scam continues to get murkier even as the Supreme Court is set to hear plea for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into it on Thursday.

A Madhya Pradesh Police constable, Sanjay Yadav, a witness in the Vyapam scam, has died. According to the STF, the constable died of prolonged illness five months back.

Yadav was a witness in the police constable exam case of Vyapam. He was supposed to depose in a Bhopal court in connection with the case, but did not appear.

The constable was believed to be close to Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav’s ex-OSD Dhanraj Yadav, who is currently in jail over the Vyapam scam.

Earlier, reports had said that the constable had gone missing. However, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh had alleged that the constable was dead.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is set to hear petitions seeking CBI probe into the Vyapam scam and removal of the Madhya Pradesh Governor.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that he would request the Supreme Court that the investigation in the scam be handed over to the CBI.
