Ghaziabad: A gun battle ensued in a school between police and a group of kidnappers in Ghaziabad after a teenager was taken hostage. The shootout went on for 20 minutes during which one of the three kidnappers was injured.
13-year-old Karan Mahajan, son of a share broker was kidnapped by three miscreants who demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore for his release at Raj Nagar area.
He was traced to a servant quarter of a private school in Raj Nagar colony area by the Sihani Gate police, SP Ajay Pal Sharma said.
The trio, Deepak, Bitoo and Sandeep have been arrested.
Sharma said that the child was kidnapped on November 29 from a play ground by the trio, adding that the accused had reportedly befriended the boy and played cricket with him several times, before executing their plan to kidnap him.
A case of missing was filed by the victim's father on Sunday night at Sihani Gate police station, Sharma said. The boy's mother received a call on Monday from Karan's mobile number, he said, adding that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore for his release. The boy was found after tracing the call and making local enquiries, police added.
