BANGALORE:  Jamia Mohammadia Education Society (JMES), Mumbai achieved another milestone in the field of education when they established SAAMAR International Islamic School in Bangalore. President of JMES, Arshad Mukhtar spoke to City Express during his recent visit to Bangalore about the school and its distinct features. When did you start SAAMAR International Islamic School?SAAMAR International Islamic School was started in June 2010 & is affiliated to Cambridge University. The Jamia Mohammadia Education Society (JMES) was established in the year 1975. It was the brain child of Late Moulana Mukhtar Ahmad Nadvi, who was a visionary, an eminent Islamic scholar and founder President of the Society. How different is SAAMAR International Islamic School from the other International Schools?Like regular International Schools, we provide international standard facilities, qualified teachers, adequate playgrounds etc. We are different as in being an Islamic School, all our activities are based on Universal values of Islam, including modesty in dressing, prayers etc. For the Muslim students, Islamic Studies and Arabic are compulsory.Being an Islamic School, what made you opt for Cambridge recognition?Cambridge recognises Islamic Studies as one of its credits. In keeping with the true values and vision of the JMES, our school envisages a future of academic excellence for our children on one hand and all round development, namely mental, physical and spiritual, on the other. In bridging the gap between religious and contemporary education, our School aims to achieve balanced youth, who are well educated without compromising Islamic values and culture. How does IGCSE have an edge over other syllabi?IGCSE is an International syllabus and a globally recognised qualification. It is a programme designed by Cambridge University which is rated first in the world in imparting quality education. This helps our learners to be confident, responsible, innovative & engaged. Our children become competitive worldwide. Is the School open for everyone?Yes, students from all faiths are welcome. How reasonable is the fee Structure?                                                                                                                                         No donations or building fund are taken. We charge only the running cost amounting to about Rs 35,000 per annum which is not heavy on the parent’s shoulders. It is very reasonable when compared to any other International School in the city, most of them charging in lakhs per annum. There is no profit motive and any surplus earned is positively re-invested in the development of the school. Are there any additional charges?Additional charges are only restricted to books, uniform and transport. There are no hidden charges whatsoever. How strong is the Infrastructure at Saamar International Islamic School? The school is within a serene five and a half acres premises which includes three playgrounds, audio visual room, library and auditorium. The school has spacious classrooms and state-of-the-art laboratories for Science, Computer, Maths  and Language. What are your future plans?Currently we have classes from Montessori to Grade 7; we plan to increase one grade each year upto 10th and decision for 11th and 12th will be taken in due course. As President, what is your mission for SAAMAR International Islamic School? As president, I already have an educational hub at Malegoan, Maharashtra, which includes a Residential School, Unani College and Engineering College. My mission is to ensure SAAMAR International Islamic School rises to No.1 position in Bangalore. Today’s children are the future of tomorrow’s world. The values inculcated as a child last long and our children will prove to be an asset to the society. I also intend branching to other metro cities of India. How strong is your faculty? Our teachers are qualified and experienced. They are affectionate, energetic, creative, with a deep sense of involvement and bring about individualistic learning experience as we have an optimum student-teacher ratio specified by Cambridge. As a trust, what are your other main activities?Since 1975, we have been involved in Printing & Publishing. We have also established an educational hub at Malegaon.
