Howrah: A first year college student was found dead near the railway tracks at Howrah's Uluberia station in West Bengal on Friday. The 20-year old was allegedly being ragged and beaten by some seniors in his college.
The victim Akash Agarwal was a pharmacy student of Calcutta Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and the bullies are from the engineering section on the same campus.
"I want justice so that soul of my son should rest in peace," Akash's mother said.
The Police have now arrested four students, all residents of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir, on the charges of ragging and abetment to suicide. However the Akash's family claims he was murdered.
"The matter should be investigated by CBI. Its not suicide its murder. I want nothing but jusitice those responsible for my child's death should be punised. CMO has been bribed by college authorties to mess up with post mortam report," Akash's father said.
Akash's sister has launched a facebook campaign demanding justice for her brother.
"I want everybody to fight for Akash. I want justice, those who were my brother's friends informed us about my brother's tragedy. We were not told anyting by College authorities and police," the victim's sister said.
The accused allegedly used to regularly beat Akash and even stopped him from taking a crucial test. The incident has raised questions against the college authorities, who initially denied there was any ragging but later suspended five seniors who were named by victim's friends as his tormentors.
