Valencia: Force India driver Adrian Sutil is confident of not losing his seat after criminal charges were filed by Lotus Renault co-owner Eric Lux against the German for causing bodily harm. "Why should I lose my drive? Of course I would be driving after this weekend," he said in Valencia, adding that the action was a private matter.
The Force India driver said it was strange that the complaint should be filed after so long. It may be recalled that Lux's complaint is based on an incident that happened in a Shanghai nightclub more than two months ago.
When asked as to how much this issue would affect him, Sutil replied that the story had been out there for few months. "What can i say? I have to concentrate on my job anyway. If he (Lux) does that, we can of course go to court," Sutil remarked.
When reminded about team owner Vijay Mallya's comments that he would consider the team set up if charges were filed, Sutil replied that everything depends on what the truth is. "We are going to hear the truth very soon," he remarked.
Speaking about FIA's decision to change the engine mapping rule, Sutil said it wasn't bad that things were going back to normality. "There were lot of different changes happening in the engine modes from qualifying to race. It´s good that FIA is slowing it down. It had gone too far."
He also said that the changes won't affect Force India as much as it would affect some other teams. "For us, the blown exhaust floor is a tricky area which doesn't work for us. We have been and are still working on it. Now, I think we will be more competitive and concentrate on other areas and not just on the floor."
Speaking about his disappointing performance at the Canadian GP, Sutil remarked that it was a very difficult race and he found it hard to stay on ciruit and do the right decisions. "I was a bit too early on slicks. But since my car had a broken front wing, I tried to be in the pits as early as possible and changed to slicks. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose... it didn't work. In Monaco, we had a great strategy, in Canada it didn't work out," he said.
On the team's prospects in Valencia, Sutil said that it was a different racetrack with different weather. The weather is nice and warm here. The track has long straights and not too many high speed corners. I think it will favour our car," he said.
