Port-of-Spain (Trinidad): West Indies find themseleves 2-1 up in the five-match One-Day series. An injured Shivnaraine Chanderpaul and out of form Runako Morton have been replaced by Wavell Hinds and Sewnarine Chattergoon.
India though, have two tough days at the office ahead. They atleast need to win the next One-Dayer to keep the series alive.
India started the tour with 16 consecutive wins while chasing, but two defeats in three matches have somewhat changed the situation now. It suggests that team India needs to re-think their game plan.
In the last two matches, India's lower middle-order hasn't been upto the task. Yuvraj's Singh absence and Rahul Dravid's playing as an opener has only added to all of that, and suddenly the Indian batting line-up looks a bit shaky.
But coach Greg Chappell has a solution. He says, "We fell below our goals for those games and I think the most important thing is that we are looking at putting something in place that is going to stay in the test of time.
"It’s not just about winning or losing, I mean if we only judge ourselves on winning and losing we will make some mistakes along the way because we will miss opportunities to learn and to improve."
On the other hand the Caribbeans have played much better than their own expectation. Going into the series as the underdogs, they have not only played exceptional cricket but also proved that as a unit they are a force to be reckoned with.
Trinidad will be an emotional homecoming for skipper Brian Lara and he would try to leave indelible imprints on the ground where he was born as a cricketer.
"We are looking forward to winning on Friday and enjoying Sunday because I don’t think I’ll be wearing these colours again at the Queenspark Oval. So it’s going to be exciting," says the class batsman.
In the recent past, India have not been under pressure to save the series. And that's why Yuvraj’s return in the team, his form and talent are a much needed boost for Chappell's men.
