'Yogi Haircut', Ban on Beards Among Diktats Issued by Meerut School
A school in Meerut is under fire from parents who allege that their children were asked to sport 'Yogi-style' haircut or stay at home.

Lucknow: Yogi Adityanath-style haircuts, ban on non-vegetarian food and gender segregation to prevent ‘love jihad’ — these are some of the diktats that parents allege a Meerut school has issued to its 2,000-odd students.

The CBSE-affiliated Rishabh Academy School in Sadar area of the city reportedly warned students they will not be allowed to attend school until they get the buzz haircut sported by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The school has also reportedly asked boys not to grow beards, saying the school “is not a madrassa or a place where they come to offer namaz".

"I asked the students to get Yogi-like haircuts... We want very short Army haircuts. Students have been told to not grow beards as this is not a madrassa," Ranjeet Jain, secretary of the school’s management committee, said.

A school management official claimed that since the school was run by a Jain trust, non-vegetarian food, including eggs, had always been banned. “It is unfortunate that a communal colour is being given to a trivial issue," the official said.

On girls and boys being made to study in separate classroom, Jain said the aim was to “prevent love jihad".
