Brisbane: Making a strong pitch for investment in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while speaking to Australian business leaders on Monday said that his government is focusing on eliminating unnecessary laws and regulations and making processes easier and shorter to ensure that the government is more transparent.

While attending a business breakfast hosted by the premier of Queensland, Modi said, "India has made its policies transparent and have made the procedures clearly defined and smooth. You will no longer have to reach to opportunities through uncertain and unpredictable pathways, crossing hurdles along the way."

He also assured the Australian business leaders that they will begin to see a change in the investment scenario in India. "Good governance is the starting point of change and it is important to business as it is to ordinary citizens. You will begin to find a difference in India," Modi said in Brisbane.

He exuded confidence about the partnership between the two countries and said, "India-Australia relationship is comprehensive, involving economic cooperation, a growing security and strategic partnership and increasing cooperation in international forums, which are vital for peace, stability and prosperity in our region."

After the breakfast, Modi left for Sydney on the second leg of his four-city tour of this country where a grand reception has been planned for Modi. More than 16,000 people are expected to throng the Allphones Arena where the Prime Minister will address the Indian Community.

However, before that Modi has a slew of meeting with a selective group of 150 Indians invited by the Indian High Commission. Thereafter, Premier of South Wales Mike Baird will call on Modi.
