In a shocking piece of news for fans, Aespa’s Karina and South Korean actor Lee Jae Wook have decided to part ways after dating for a brief period. As per the latest reports, the two have decided due to “mental distress,” which they have been subjected to ever since they announced their relationship. Notably, the development comes just a few weeks after their respective agencies confirmed their relationship. Karina also apologised to her fans for keeping the information hidden from them.

According to a TenAsia report, the celebrity couple ended their relationship after reportedly dating each other for merely five weeks. The report further attributed the reason behind their breakup to the ‘mental distress’ that they had been subjected to due to malicious comments on social media. They were also worried about their fans, which also added to the decision.
In reaction to the report, a source from the South Korean actor’s agency, C-JeS, also confirmed the same. “Lee Jae Wook decided on the breakup in order to focus on the project he is currently filming. The two decided to remain colleagues who support each other. They will each greet fans through good activities from their respective positions going forward. Please show lots of warm interest and support,” the source said, as quoted by Korean media.
On the other hand, SM Entertainment has also confirmed the news and affirmed that the couple has indeed parted ways.

In February this year, the Aespa star and Lee Jae Wook confirmed their relationship and received immense love from their fans. The couple became a talking point on the internet, with a section of admirers even expressing their “disappointment” and feeling “betrayed” by their favourite stars.
Later, the K-pop star issued an apology note to her fans. “First, I apologize for surprising you greatly, I wound up late because I feel very cautious towards the MYs, who must have been very surprised. I know very well how disappointed the MYs who have supported me up until now must be, and I also know that they are feeling upset while thinking back on the things we’ve said to one another. I feel even more sorry because I, too, understand those feelings all too well. Starting now, I want to do a good job filling the places where MYs have been wounded,” she wrote in a handwritten letter, expressing her feelings toward her fans.
