SEVENTEEN hosted a global press conference on Monday, April 29, in South Korea and spoke to the media about their upcoming album, 17 is Right Here. At the event, the 13-member group reunited on stage and shed light on the album’s making. During the press conference, SEVENTEEN leader S Coups admitted that he was scared with how fans and listeners would react the album’s title track, MAESTRO. However, since Woozi made the song, he has faith in him and the fandom — CARATs — that the song would be loved.
“I was concerned how people would react, but since Woozi made the song, I had faith that CARATs will greatly enjoy [the song]. I want to thank Woozi for trying out a new genre,” S Coup said, as translated by Soompi. Besides talking about the song, the K-pop group’s leader also added that he hopes to host concerts across the globe and meet CARATs from every corner of the world.
Mingyu joined in to add, “If we can make the time, I personally want to persuade the members to go to as many regions as possible and meet as many CARATs as possible because there are lots of regions we haven’t gone to.” He also weighed in on group’s plans for the year and said that they could release another album, a potential ‘CARAT LAND’ and a tour in Fall. “I wonder if we can really do it,” Mingyu said before assuring himself, the K-pop group and the fans, “We can do it. We will be doing it.”
About 17 IS RIGHT HERE:
Composed of 2 CDs, the album presents 4 new tracks, Korean versions of 8 previously-released Japanese lead singles, 20 lead singles from past Korean releases, and a digital-only instrumental version of the group’s debut single, “Adore U.”
The new lead single “MAESTRO” best represents such progression, weaving in elements from the band’s past 7 releases– “Adore U,” “VERY NICE,” “Oh My!”, “Fear,” “Rock with you,” “CHEERS,” and “Super”– while innovating a style and concept vastly original to itself. Aligning with the group’s core message around solidarity, this captivating dance R&B track illustrates how together, we can orchestrate our own universe like a ‘maestro.’
