Coolers are a perfect alternative but now with the advancement in technology, people can afford ACs which can also save electricity. Using coolers may be reduced during rain, but the air conditioner continues to run However, if some things are not taken care of regarding the installation of AC, then the cooling might be directly affected and can result in a surge of electricity bill. There are two types of AC–Window and Split. Although people buy window or split ACs considering their budget and convenience, the split AC has a distinct feature which is having two body parts. One indoor unit and one outdoor unit. In such a situation, the indoor unit which is often installed in an enclosed space, people usually wonder about the right location for the outdoor unit.

Outdoor units can be installed on balconies, rooftops, or the sides of a building. All options are equally good, provided there is no obstruction to airflow. However, for this, you need to keep some things in mind. There should be sufficient space to install the outdoor unit. It should be kept in a clean, dry and open place. It should not be kept in a closed place like a garage or a room. It cools well so it is very important to be kept in an open space. You can also place it on your terrace if there is no space on the balcony.

Generally, it is advised to keep a distance of two feet from all sides to ensure proper airflow with AC outdoor units. When a split AC outdoor unit is mounted on a wall, there should be some space left between the wall and ceiling for proper airflow.

The terrace is considered to be the best place to place an outdoor unit. Here, the outdoor unit can be simply placed on the roof. But, if you live on the first floor, it may be a little difficult to get the roof installed on the fourth floor. In such a situation, you can keep it on the balcony.
