The Chaturdashi tithi of Krishna Paksha in Margashirsha begins at 07:10 a.m. on Monday, December 11 and continues until 06:24 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12. The determination of the day for Shivratri is based on the Nishita Muhurta, placing the last Shivratri on December 11th.
The auspicious time for Shivratri worship on December 11th is from 11:47 p.m. to 12:42 p.m., providing a 55-minute window for Shiva puja. However, individuals desiring to perform puja during the day can do so at their convenience.
Three auspicious coincidences mark the last Shivratri of 2023. Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga is from 12:14 p.m. on December 11th to 07:04 a.m. on December 12. Additionally, Sukarma Yoga spans from the morning till 08:59 p.m., followed by the commencement of Dhriti Yoga. The third coincidence is that Shivratri falls on a Monday, a day traditionally dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva.
On Shivratri, Vishakha Nakshatra prevails in the morning until 12:14 p.m., transitioning to Anuradha Nakshatra thereafter. The Abhijit Muhurta occurs from 11:53 a.m. to 12:35 p.m., with Brahma Muhurta from 05:14 a.m. to 06:09 a.m. Bhadra, a celestial time, is from 07:10 a.m. to 06:52 p.m. Rahukaal on that day is from 08:21 a.m. to 09:39 a.m.
Observing a fast on Shivratri and worshipping Lord Shiva is believed to fulfil one’s wishes. Shivratri is particularly auspicious for ensuring a happy married life and continuous good fortune. Through the grace of Lord Shiva and Goddess Gauri, marital issues can be resolved, and those fasting and worshipping the Gods may increase the likelihood of marriage.
