'Greatest Performer for India in World Cups': Fans Hail Mohammed Shami After Sensational Four-fer vs England

Mohammed Shami produced a stellar performance with the ball and claimed a four-fer against England in a low-scoring clash to help India defend a below-par 230 target on Sunday. Shami was right on the money and continued his purple patch with the ball and dismantled England’s star-studded batting line-up to just 129 on a tricky batting surface at Lucknow.

He got the better of Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid as England failed to put up a fight with the bat despite chasing a below-par target.

Shami returned figures of 4-22 while fellow quick Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets to wrap up the match as fireworks lit up the sky.

The cricket fraternity and fans on social media praised Shami for his incredible bowling to help India defend a low total in Lucknow.

Shami troubled Stokes by beating him with some sensational delivers and castled him finally on the last ball of the 8th over. The southpaw exposed his stumps in the attempt to break shackles and open his account but it backfired for him and got out for a 10-ball duck. He didn’t waste much to hurt England further as on the first ball of his next over he got the better of Bairstow, who tried to punch it but only managed to edge the ball which hit the pads before hitting the stumps.

Later he forced an edge from Moeen Ali’s bat to end England’s hopes, while Adil Rashid became his final victim of the match.

With the four-fer, Shami has now picked 40 wickets in the ODI World Cups in just 13 matches.
