Directed by Abhishek Varman, 2 States is based on the novel, 2 States: The Story of My Marriage, by author Chetan Bhagat. The novel was published in 2009, about half a decade before the film.

Arjun Kapoor portrays Krish Malhotra, an IIT graduate pursuing an MBA from IIM-Ahmedabad. He belongs to a Punjabi Hindu family based out of Delhi. During his studies, he meets Ananya Swaminathan, a classmate from a Tamil Brahmin family in Chennai. Despite their different cultural backgrounds, they become friends and fall in love. Now, they must navigate the differences between their families to sustain their relationship and convince their parents for their marriage.

The film also stars Ronit Roy and Amrita Singh in significant roles. This romance-drama movie became Arjun’s highest-grossing film at that time and was a massive box office success. He was even nominated for the Stardust-Best Actor-Male Award for his performance.

In other news, Arjun is gearing up to play a villain in the upcoming multi-starrer film Singham Again.
