Suriya Sivakumar is a well-known Tamil star who is not just an actor and a film producer but also made a significant contribution through social activities. He had once said that indulging in social activities is not just a service but it is a responsibility. He also added that he must give back to society in whatever little way possible. The motive of the Agaram Foundation which was founded by Surya in 2006, is to make a difference in the lives of the millions who are not yet touched by education. According to sources, until 2019, more than 3.000 students have had access to higher education through this foundation.
On behalf of the actor Surya’s Agaram Foundation, a programme was held in Chennai to encourage and reward students from marginalised families who are the first generation to go to college after passing 12th. Speaking at the event one of the students from Manipur claimed that, she is thankful to the Agaram Foundation for allowing her to study as In Manipur many students from schools and colleges were deprived of education due to extreme violence. She also expressed her hope for a change in the extraordinary situation in Manipur.
Speaking at the event, actor Sivakumar said that education and discipline are what will elevate us to great heights. Following this, actor Karthi continued that we must put in the effort that is necessary to become what we aim to be.
Finally speaking at the function, actor Surya proudly expressed that he has been successful in changing the lives of 6,000 students in the last 20 years through his foundation. He also advised his students to go with the flow and always have a positive attitude towards life. Surya claimed that education is the best shield and he salutes the fighting spirit of the students hailing from marginalised families who aspire to become a successful individual in future.
He also expressed his gratefulness towards the teachers who are providing them with quality education and thanked them for believing that education can change everything.
