Actress Renu Desai Lashes Out At YouTuber Praneeth Hanumanthu For Controversial Clip

A YouTuber named Praneeth Hanumanthu has been in the headlines recently after the Cyber Bureau in Telangana filed an FIR against him. The FIR has been filed against the YouTuber for allegedly making incestuous comments in a video. Many prominent celebrities including actress and costume designer Renu Desai have commented on this issue. Renu is also Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s ex wife. She strongly condemned the YouTuber’s words in an Instagram story and expressed anguish at how he is spewing venom on someone. She called for his arrest by the police administration and also hoped for a much harsher physical reprimand for him. Renu Desai also called for the apprehension of his supporters. “These people should be arrested and beaten up in lockup. This is my dark sense of humour and freedom of speech (sic)”, she added.

Praneeth is the son of a senior IAS officer and played a brief role in a film recently. Even though he hails from Andhra Pradesh, the FIR was registered by Telangana police after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, promised to take strict action. Praneeth apologised after the social media furor, but it did not go down well with netizens. They argued that the video promoted pedophilia and put children in danger.

“Edited out the problematic part from the video. Unconditionally and unambiguously apologetic about the lapse in judgement. As a creator, my attempt is always to put a smile. Unfortunately this time I have crossed the line between what is dark and what is distasteful,” he said.

The issue was intensified after Telugu cinema’s actor Sai Dharam Tej exhorted the Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Minister of the state to take action. Tej tweeted that this clip is “beyond gruesome, disgusting and scary”. As per the Telugu actor, monsters like these go unnoticed on the very much utilised social platform. Sai added that child safety is the need of the hour. He requested the Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka Garu to take necessary action to curb horrific acts like this in the future.
