After 10 Flops In 14 Years, This Actress To Return With Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi
Sonakshi Sinha has been in the entertainment industry for over 14 years. Last year, she transitioned to OTT with the series Dahaad.

Sonakshi Sinha is one of the actresses who was deemed to become the leading heroines after her dream debut with Salman Khan’s Dabangg in 2010. The blockbuster movie was directed by Abhinav Singh Kashyap. After winning numerous awards for her performance in the movie, the actress gave a series of hits like Son Of Sardaar, Rowdy Rathore, Holiday, R.. Rajkumar and Dabangg 2. The actress couldn’t capitalise on the headstart and eventually failed to fulfil the expectations of the viewers with her subsequent films. In 15 years of her Bollywood career, the actress has given over ten flops. Her film Tevar was one of the biggest flops of 2015. Despite the dip in her acting career, the actress never restricted herself to mainstream roles. She will be next seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated web series Heeramandi. It stars Sonakshi Sinha in the negative role. It is slated to release on Netflix on May 1.

Sonakshi Sinha has been in the entertainment industry for over 14 years. Last year, she transitioned to OTT with the series Dahaad. It was directed by Reema Kagti and starred Gulshan Deviah, Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma and Sohum Shah in the lead roles. She is now set to appear in Sanjay Leela’s Bhansali debut OTT show, Heeramandi–The Diamond Bazaar. This role can be considered as the comeback for the actress Sonakshi Sinha as she will be portraying a dark and negative character for the first time, reminiscent of the kind of roles her father, Shatrughan Sinha, started his career with.

Between 2013 to 2022, the actress has not given any blockbuster movies. She has given a series of flops. The film, Akira, touted to become a comeback for the actress, also failed miserably at the box office. It was written and directed by AR Murugadoss. It starred Sonakshi Sinha in the titular role and was released in 2016. Now, with her Heermandi series in the queue, the actress is quite excited about this venture. In an interview with ETimes, the actress said that she has always aspired to portray a villainous character similar to her father’s early roles.

She expresses her gratitude to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for this opportunity. Heermandi stars Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Sheikh. Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan and Adhyayan Suman also play pivotal roles. The historical drama series takes viewers to a time when courtesans served as monarchs.
