After Amitabh Bachchan-Deepika Padukone, Nag Ashwin Wants To Work With Ranbir Kapoor: 'He's A Chameleon'

Director Nag Ashwin is currently basking in the success of his recent directorial venture, Kalki 2898 AD. The film brings together some of the biggest stars from across the Indian film industry like Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone. After pulling off this casting coup, Nag Ashwin was recently asked about the kind of film he would make if he worked with Ranbir Kapoor.

“Ranbir Kapoor also is a chameleon and could do almost anything. My favourite film was Rocket Singh, I think. Maybe a coming-of-age film which has not been done,” Nag Ashwin told IWM Buzz. Check out the video here:

Meanwhile, Nag Ashwin is enjoying the success of Kalki 2898 AD, which has managed to mint Rs 595.75 crore nett at the domestic box office so far, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The Nag Ashwin film heavily draws inspiration from Mahabharat.

Kalki 2898 AD is set in a dystopian future and revolves around four people — a pregnant woman named Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), who is said to be carrying a child that is the 10th avatar of Vishnu; the immortal Ashwatthama (played by Amitabh Bachchan) who has been tasked to protect the unborn child; a ruthless villain named Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), who wants the child dead for he knows the child will be the end of the baddie; and Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter who would sell anyone in return of money.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is currently shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana is one of the most-awaited films of the superstar. For the unversed, Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the role of Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, whereas Sai Pallavi will be seen essaying the role of Sita. Recently, photos of the two actors from the sets of the film leaked online in which they were seen in their Ram and Sita avatars respectively. Reportedly, KGF star Yash has been roped in to play Ravana in the movie. The film will also star Arun Govil and Lara Dutta as Dashrath and Kaikeyi respectively. Reportedly, the makers have also roped in Sunny Deol for the role of Hanuman. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now.

Ramayana’s release date has not been announced as of now. However, trade analyst Sumit Kadel recently claimed that the makers are planning to release the Ranbir Kapoor starrer in 2027. This means that fans will have to wait for almost three years before they can see Ranbir as Lord Ram on screen.
