The first official trailer for Agatha All Along left fans impressed as it introduces Joe Locke into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Locke, who rose to fame from Heartstopper, is making his MCU debut with a character that may have strong ties with Scarlet Witch. Making his debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where Locke spoke with guest host Kathryn Hahn about his exciting new role. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios is known for its secrecy and due to this, Locke admitted that keeping his role under wraps was a real challenge. He shared that he managed to keep his Marvel involvement a secret from his close friends and family. Surprisingly, even Hahn admitted having a similar experience while she was working on WandaVision.
Locke explained, “It’s been so hard. Like I want to talk about it and there’s so many cool things about the show that I always want to tell people. It’s been like a long time since we shot. I mean I’m glad it’s coming out now because I’m not sure I could have kept them for much longer. Just a little bit longer to hang. Just holding on and then I can tell everything."
Interestingly, Joe Locke shared that Marvel maintained strict secrecy from the start of his audition process. He mentioned that the project was initially described as an “Untitled Marvel project" with an “untitled role." However, until he reached the fourth audition round, that’s when the studio revealed what the project was all about.
Talking about his love for Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Joe Locke shared, “I’m a big Marvel fan. When I was younger that’s the thing that me and my friends did because there’s not really a huge amount to do in the Isle of Man, where I grew up. So the thing you do is go and see the new Marvel film war and so that’s what me and my friends always used to do."
As per the show’s official synopsis shared by Disney, “In Agatha All Along, the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road."
Other than Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke, the Marvel series also stars Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, Debra Jo Rupp, Patti LuPone and Aubrey Plaza. WandaVision Showrunner Jac Schaeffer, returned to direct the pilot episode.
