Alia Bhatt Says Raha Watched 'Radha Teri Chunri' And 'Badtameez Dil' Back-To-Back: 'She Must Think...'
While promoting her co-produced film Jigra, Alia Bhatt shared that her daughter Raha has started watching songs from her movies, including Radha Teri Chunri and Badtameez Dil.

Alia Bhatt is proving to be a multi-tasker, effortlessly balancing her acting career, family life, film production, and her clothing brand Ed-a-Mamma. While currently promoting her co-produced film Jigra, Alia still makes time for her daughter Raha and husband Ranbir Kapoor. Recently, the couple introduced their little one to some iconic songs from their films.

At a press meet on Monday, Alia was asked which song she would like her daughter to watch first. The National Award-winning actress shared, “Just yesterday, she saw the first song I ever shot in my life, ‘Radha Teri Chunri’ from Student of the Year (2012).” The film, directed by Karan Johar, also launched Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan alongside Alia.

Alia continued, “We have started showing her songs slowly since she’s almost two years old now. The first song she ever saw was ‘Kesariya’ from Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva (2022). But yesterday, she saw ‘Radha Teri Chunri’ and ‘Badtameez Dil’ from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) back to back. She must be thinking, this (dancing around to songs) is normal,” Alia joked, drawing laughs from the audience.

While Brahmāstra marked the first on-screen pairing of Alia and Ranbir, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, directed by Ayan Mukerji, remains one of Ranbir’s career-defining hits.

Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, and Soumen Mishra under the banners of Dharma Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions. The film, which also stars Vedang Raina, Aditya Nanda, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Manoj Pahwa, is set to release on October 11.

In the upcoming movie, Alia and Vedang play siblings, and their chemistry is already getting praise from the audience. The trailer starts with Alia Bhatt’s character receiving a late-night call, informing her that her brother, Ankur (played by Vedang Raina), has been arrested. Confused and worried, she asks him if he’s done anything wrong and if his blood tests will be clean. One then sees Ankur in a courtroom in a foreign country, unable to understand the language, as he’s taken into custody.

Determined to save her brother, Alia sets off on a mission, desperate to see him. She asks if hurting herself would force the authorities to let her visit him, but she’s repeatedly denied access. We watch as she travels to the country where he’s being held and begins her fight to get him released. The trailer picks up with intense action as Alia performs daring stunts, evading guards and taking extreme measures to save her brother, who is being tortured in jail. As she faces roadblocks at every turn, she refuses to give up.

In an earlier interview with The Indian Express, Alia Bhatt shared her reason behind choosing Jigra, where she’s on a mission to free her brother, played by Vedang Raina, while he’s stuck in a foreign jail. She said, “When Jigra came to me, I was going through my most tigress, protective phase. It is possibly why I went mad about the material. It really, really spoke to me. Maybe it would have spoken to me prior as well, but it spoke to me very differently. It hit a different chord. Maybe something else must have come out of that. It is not like I can measure or mould that, but motherhood does make a difference.”
