Andrew Garfield Pokes Fun At Making A 3-Part Docuseries On The Carousel Horse In We Live In Time
Andrew Garfield gifted Stephen Colbert a shirt with the horse on it and joked about making a three-part documentary to “get to the bottom of life, where the oversight fell apart and why this horse has taken on a life of its own.”

Andrew Garfield knows how to spot a meme-worthy moment and he’s having some fun with it. The Oscar-nominated actor recently made an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, where the conversation turned hilarious as they discussed the now-viral demon carousel horse from his film We Live in Time. This bizarre horse, featured in a promotional shot of Garfield alongside his co-star Florence Pugh, has become an internet sensation and Garfield is fully onboard with all the jokes.

Reflecting on the photo, Garfield recounted how he first saw it while scrolling right before heading off on a six-day phone-free retreat in Northern California. “I see this image, and I think, ‘Maybe I’m the only one that will notice this insane horse. It feels like we’re in his poster, in a way. No, I’m probably being overly sensitive. No one else will see it," Garfield told Colbert.

Much to his surprise, when his retreat ended and he powered his phone back on, Garfield found the internet buzzing with memes, including Colbert’s own monologue poking fun at the horse. “I see all the memes, which are just, I was crying with laughter in the departure lounge. So I guess other people noticed it too," he said.

Before leaving, Garfield gifted Colbert a shirt with the horse on it and joked about making a three-part documentary to “get to the bottom of life, where the oversight fell apart and why this horse has taken on a life of its own."

The film, We Live in Time follows Florence Pugh’s character Almut and Garfield’s Tobias as they meet in a chance encounter that forever alters their lives. “As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish each moment of their unconventional love story," reads the official description.

The interview turned more personal when Colbert asked Garfield about his first brush with love. Garfield remembered meeting a girl named Sarah at a bus stop when he was in his early teens. Unfortunately, young Garfield’s romance didn’t last long. “I was obsessed for three years, and I’m okay now," he joked.

We Live in Time will be released in theatres on October 18.
