One thing unites the majority of subcontinental singers: they have all had classical training or at least some form of professional instruction. Among them, one name sticks out: Atif Aslam. Arguably the most popular Pakistani vocalist of his time, he never studied music theory but became an international star anyway. Atif Aslam, who is well-known for belting out Bollywood favourites like Tera Hone Laga Hoon, Tere Sang Yaara, Dil Diyan Galla and Aadat, among others, recently posted clips of the crowd singing along to his popular songs from this year’s Kathmandu show.

At an event hosted by Tarish Entertainment and MN Production at the Hyatt Regency ground on April 12 and 13, Aslam delivered a performance in Nepal’s capital city. He is heard singing along to one of his famous songs, Pehli Dafa, with a massive crowd who attended the event. As the singer sang the first line of the song, the audience shouted the rest of the stanza with Atif Aslam eventually joining in on an electric note.

Aslam, meanwhile, is set to make his debut in Malayalam as he provides the voice of Hijr, a Hindi song written by Nandhagopan V for the upcoming romance movie Haal.

“Always fun to sing a beautiful composition and meaningful lyrics. The song is contemporary and I hope the film will be as amazing as its music,” Aslam told Rolling Stone India in a statement, noting that this is also his first foray into South India.

Aslam has previously returned to Bollywood after almost seven years. The vocalist collaborated with Love Story of the 90s (LSO90s). Adhyayan Suman and Miss Universe Diva, Divita Rai, play the key characters in the Amit Kasaria-directed movie.

The producers and distributors of Love Story of the 90s, Haresh and Dharmesh Sangani, expressed their delight about the film and stated that it is really comforting for Atif Aslam to return after a seven or eight-year hiatus, according to a report by Box Office Worldwide. They went on to say how thrilled they were that he had performed the opening song for their movie.

They mentioned that Atif Aslam’s fans will be pleased about his impending Bollywood comeback through their film.
