During Eid, two highly anticipated Bollywood films hit theatres – Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan and the Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Many expected a big showdown between these Bollywood stars, but the worldwide earnings of both movies have surprised audiences. Despite a strong start for Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, its earnings have dipped since its release.
On the other hand, Maidaan received praise from critics for its content, but it’s struggling to draw viewers to theatres. Its daily earnings remain low, with only Rs 7.1 crore on the first day and a total worldwide collection of Rs 22 crore so far. In comparison, the action thriller Bade Miyan Chote Miyan earned a decent Rs 40 crore in four days after its release on April 11.
Despite having a budget of Rs 350 crore, the film hasn’t done well at the box office. However, it’s still bringing in earnings at a slow pace. On the 11th day, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan earned Rs 2.25 crore. Its daily earnings dropped to lakhs. The movie made Rs 85 lakh on the 12th, 13th and 14th days respectively.
On its 15th day in theatres, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan garnered Rs 80 lakh nationwide, accumulating a total of Rs 58.50 crore in earnings. Despite being out for two weeks, the film has yet to hit the Rs 100 crore mark in India.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn’s Maidan raked in Rs 75 lakh on its second Thursday, bringing its total earnings in India to Rs 38.55 crore. Industry experts deem both movies to have underperformed at the box office.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan both premiered in theatres on April 11. Despite being of different genres, both movies didn’t do well at the box office. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. It also featured Sonakshi Sinha, Alaya F, and Manushi Chhillar. On the other hand, Maidaan, helmed by Amit Ravindranath Sharma, starred Ajay Devgn, Gajraj Rao and Priyamani.
