Television actress Chhavi Mittal has always been vocal about her battle with cancer. On Thursday, she took to her Instagram handle and penned down a long note sharing how her cancer was very “painful”. Chhavi argued that she was ‘wronged’ and ‘forgotten’ by her people during that difficult phase.
“My experience with cancer was the most painful not because I couldn’t take the physical pain or limitation, but because how my own people have wronged me, been insensitive towards me, forgotten about me, not checked on me.. and even judged me coz I fended for myself,” she wrote.
However, Chhavi stated that she is a strong person today and does not bother herself by what others think of her. She also mentioned that she does not expect anything from anyone now because expectations only lead to disappointment. “Nobody has a perfect life and neither do I, so my own discomfort or the restrictions, I can deal with.. and being sensitive towards my own needs is the first step towards happiness,” she continued.
“No, I’m not there yet, I’m not there today, and I’m still taking baby steps, but I’ve come this far.. 2 years.. by just taking one day at a time..what’s to stop me from going all the way!” the 43-year-old actress concluded as she called herself ‘Chhavi 2.0’.
In April 2022, Chhavi Mittal revealed that she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. She underwent a six-hour-long surgery and was later declared cancer-free.
In 2023, Chhavi Mittal spoke exclusively to News18 Showsha when she revealed that while her husband, Mohit Hussein understood the situation, conveying the cancer news to their daughter Areeza, who was just 9 years old then, wasn’t easy.
“I spoke to Areeza. I sat down with her and told her, ‘Your mom is sick and she needs to go to the hospital for a few days. She is going to get better and come back home.’ She suddenly started crying and said, ‘Mumma, do you have that?’ I knew she was talking about cancer. I said, ‘Yes’. I lost my nani to cancer. She [Areeza] knows it. She thought I was going to die. The only thing she knows about cancer is that it kills. She said, ‘Are you not going to be able to swallow food? Are you going to die?’ I said, ‘No, it is not the same. Cancer can be different for different people. It is very different for me. For me, it is just a little thing, they will do a surgery and take it out’,” Chhavi revealed.
Chhavi Mittal is known for shows like Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann, Bandini, and Viraasat.
