Did You Know Govinda Wrapped This Hero No.1 Song Shoot In Just 15 Mins?
David Dhawan didn't have permission to shoot in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Actor Govinda was infamous for being late to his film sets during his peak days of stardom. But there’s also a flip side to these stories. Despite the habitual tardiness, the actor was very efficient on the sets, showing his dedication to his work. In a recent interview, casting director-actor Abhishek Banerjee revealed an interesting anecdote from the shooting of Hero No. 1.

In a conversation with Lallantop, Banerjee recalled the time when director David Dhawan didn’t have permission to shoot in front of the Eiffel Tower. Govinda came up with a solution for the situation and managed to wrap up the shoot in just 15 minutes.

“Govinda ne yeh bola tu bass camera on kar aur fatafat jo ye steps hain group ke saath 15-20 minute mein dance karke nikal liye (Govinda asked him to switch on the camera, did all the steps with the group in just 15-20 minutes and left)," the actor said.

The incident took place on the sets of the 1997 film Hero No. 1 during the shooting of the song, Mohabbat Ki Nahi Jati. Govinda performed alongside Karisma Kapoor, showcasing quirky dance moves against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower.

Abhishek Banerjee claimed that no actor can work like Govinda, adding that he doesn’t believe any other performer could do what he did back in the 90s. Speaking highly of his professionalism, Banerjee noted that, as an actor, he knew to properly finish his work on time and leave.

This is not the only backstory from the 1997 film. Producer Vashu Bhagnani, who worked with Govinda in multiple films, once shared an instance when the actor didn’t appear on their Switzerland set for three days.

In a conversation with Reviewron Ronak Kotecha, Bhagnani recalled the time when the entire unit of 75 people sat idle in Switzerland for three days because Govinda had not arrived in the country. “I called him and asked, ‘If you are not going to come, then we will come back.’ He got upset and said I am coming. He landed at 6 am. I went to pick him up at the airport. He sat in the van, and we did not talk to each other for 10-15 minutes. At 7:30 am, he gave the first shot," he said.

Govinda is known for delivering comedy blockbusters like Coolie No. 1, Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Swarg, Saajan Chale Sasural, Raja Babu, Rajaji, Partner, and others.
