Farhan Akhtar is all set to direct another film on the Indian Army, marking a return to the genre 20 years after the release of the critically acclaimed movie Lakshya. The film starred Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta. Pinkvilla has exclusively reported that the filmmaker is eager to make a film on military drama and an official announcement is expected soon.
During the conversation with Pinkvilla Masterclass, when Farhan Akhtar was asked about whether he plans on making an Indian Army-based film again. On this, he said, “We are in the process of putting one such film together. I would imagine that within a very short period of time, I would say at the most a couple of weeks, we will probably make some kind of announcement regarding that film. But it is feeling really good to kind of go back and revisit mentally and emotionally, that same phase. So, I am looking forward to it.”
Ritesh Sidhwani, who was also present there, spoke about how the then Indian Army General gave the team of Lakshya, personalised awards because Lakshya felt to them like the most perfect depiction of the Indian Army.
Lakshya, which was released three years after Farhan Akhtar’s debut directorial Dil Chahta Hai, had a lot riding on it after the huge success of his first film. Although Lakshya failed to replicate the success of Dil Chahta Hai, it definitely made a mark as a coming-of-age story against a fictionalized backdrop of the 1999 Kargil War. Starring Hrithik Roshan in the lead, the film was released in 2004 and has now clocked 20 years.
The film also featured Boman Irani and Amitabh Bachchan in prominent roles. Even though the film had an impressive star cast.
Well, Farhan Akhtar is also in the news for directing Don 3 starring Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani.
