Actor, director and screenwriter Raj B Shetty is a popular face in the Kannada film industry. Just this year, he ventured into the Malayalam industry and has already made an unforgettable impression with his acting mettle in the film Turbo. Now, Raj B Shetty is all set to grace the big screen for yet another Malayalam film Kondal, helmed by Antony Varghese. The recent character poster drop has sent his fans and movie-goers into a frenzy. The makers of Kondal film dropped a character poster on August 15. It gave a quick glimpse of the Kannada star’s character in his upcoming action film, which is slated to hit the theatres on Onam. In the poster, he looks like he is playing a tough character in Kondal, but what has intrigued the fans is whether he is playing an important supporting role or an antagonist.
The caption read, “Thrilled to unveil the first look of the powerhouse talent, Raj B Shetty KONDAL! Get ready to experience his magic on screen this Onam!” Fans seemed to be ecstatic to see an update on the upcoming film. A comment read, “Wow! Waiting to see Pepe and Shetru together onscreen.” A fan wrote excitedly, “It means FDFS (First Day First Show) is locked. I am a big fan of Sir.” “An epic film is loading”, wrote another.
Kondal is billed as an action drama and vengeful plot in a seaside town. In fact, a 100-foot boat was specially constructed for the film in Kureepuzha, Kollam. As per reports, almost 70 days of filming were mostly spent at sea.
Speaking of Raj B Shetty, he began his career as an RJ and a short filmmaker. He caught everyone’s attention with his directorial debut, Ondu Motteya Kathe in 2017. The film emerged to be a commercial success. His other notable works are Gubbi Mele Brahmastra, Mayabazar 2016, and Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana. These Kannada films earned him widespread acclaim. In 2024, he marked his debut in the Malayalam film industry with the film Turbo, a Malayalam action comedy directed by Vysakh and written by Midhun Manuel Thomas and produced by Mammootty under Mammootty Kampany.
Turbo is headlined by Mammootty in the titular role. In the supporting roles were actors like Raj B. Shetty, Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Anjana Jayaprakash, Niranjana Anoop, Bindu Panicker, Dileesh Pothan and Shabareesh Varma.
