ICYMI: Robert De Niro Makes 81st Look Oh-So-Cool With His Diving Skills

Hollywood legend Robert De Niro marked his 81st birthday on August 17 with a daring move that most of us would not think of when we turn 81. The Godfather actor leaped off a yacht. His daughter, Drena De Niro, shared glimpses of the celebration on Instagram, including both photos and videos that showed the event and honoured her father. In one of the videos, the iconic actor can be seen making a dive into the water. Drena also posted family pictures, featuring the actor alongside other loved ones, including her late son Leandro Anthony De Niro-Rodriguez.

In the video, Drena can be heard saying, “He’s so crazy. Oh my God.” She then asks her father, “You alright?” To this, De Niro replies, “I am okay”. “Happy 81st Bday to my Dad and #1 ride or die.. Love you with all my BobbyD forever,” she wrote in her post.

As the video went viral online, fans flooded the comments section with birthday wishes and praises for De Niro. One user wrote, “Happy birthday to the OG!!!!! May we all look this good at this age!” Another fan said, “A Happy Birthday to the best actor of all Time, for his 81st Birthday. And many more. Robert De Niro was born on August 17, 1943, in Manhattan, New York City, to artists Virginia and Robert De Niro Senior. He is celebrated for his memorable roles in films like The Godfather Part II, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Cape Fear and Raging Bull, the latter of which earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor. De Niro’s accolades include four Golden Globe Award nominations, the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 and the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2010.

The much-loved actor is a father of seven. He adopted Drena, now 52, after his marriage to Diahnne Abbott, with whom he also had a son, Raphael, 47. In 1995, he welcomed twin sons, Julian and Aaron, now 28, with his former girlfriend Toukie Smith. De Niro has two children, Elliot, 26 and Helen Grace, 12, with his ex-wife Grace Hightower. Most recently, in April 2023, De Niro became a father again, welcoming a baby girl named Gia with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen.
