The highly anticipated sequel to Kamal Haasan’s 1996 film Indian has been in the making since the last two years. Last year, a freak accident occurred on the sets of the film killing three members of the crew. Kamal and Kajal Aggarwal, who is the lead actress in the film were saved from the accident by a whisker. Since then, the shoot of the film has not resumed.
Kajal, who will be next seen in Mosagallu, recently participated in a press-event to promote the film. In the event, the actress was asked about the delay in Indian 2 production. According to several reports, Kajal said that most of the crew of the film is from United States. She said that due to Covid-19 restrictions, they are not being able to travel to India. She added that this is the real reason why Indian 2 production has been stalled.
In February 2020, three people were killed and nine injured on the set of Indian 2, after a crane on which they were sitting crashed to the ground. All the three who lost their lives were assistant directors of the film, which was being shot at EVP Film City, a private cinema studio, near Chennai. The deceased were identified as Krishna (Assistant Director), Chandran (Art Assistant) and Madhu (Production Assistant). Director Shankar had a narrow escape, according to witnesses. The injured were rushed to the hopital and provided aid. Kamal Haasan later donated Rs 1 crore to the families of the deceased.
Indian 2 is a vigilante action thriller directed by S Shankar, produced by Lyca Productions. It also stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead roles.
