Karan Johar is one of the most prolific directors in Bollywood. However, it is not always Karan’s work that grabs headlines as fans are equally interested in his personal life. Over the years, the director has spoken about wanting to start a family but having difficulty finding a partner. Thus, when Karan became a proud father to his twins Yash and Roohi in 2017, not only his friends but also his fans were overwhelmed with joy. Karan welcomed his twins via surrogacy on February 7, 2017. However, it was Kajol who predicted this years ago.
During an appearance on Simi Garewal’s talk show, Rendezvous with Simmi, Karan said, “I think 10 years later I’ll be sitting across you, again with nobody. At this rate, I don’t think there’s going to be another Johar.” Kajol chimed in and said, “There’s always in vitro fertilization and surrogate motherhood.” Simmi said, “So there will be another little Johar, there may not be another Mrs Johar.” Kajol said, “The means to the end.”

Kajol and Karan share a close friendship. But to say that their equation has only been a cakewalk is untrue. In the eighth season of Koffee Of Karan, the filmmaker recalled the time when he wasn’t on talking terms with Kajol, who he has directed in films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhie Khushi, Kabhi Gham and My Name Is Khan.
Karan shared that people added fuel to the fire during his rift with Kajol in 2016. When Kajol was asked about it in the episode of KWK, she stated, “I am not going to get into this. I don’t want to discuss this topic anymore. It’s over. And it is done with and we are not rehashing this. You did it. You rehashed it once on national television. We are not redoing that.”
The duo has resolved their issues and earlier, Karan spoke to News18 Showsha and said, “If you see Kajol with my kids, it is like she becomes one of them. And I am just so glad that I have this support system of all these friends. When you are a single parent, barring the fact that I am eternally grateful to the universe for my mother and she co-parents the children with me, you do need friends which I am also thankful for.”
As for Karan Johar’s kids, Yash and Roohi turned seven years old this year. The filmmaker often shares his candid interactions with them on his social media handles.
