Kangana Ranaut Makes SHOCKING Claim, Says Experienced 'Desh Nikala' for 8 Years: 'Kyu Mujhe Gaali...'
Kangana Ranaut opens up about her struggle in Bollywood and feeling 'deshnikala' after work dried up, revealing the intense challenges she faced.

Kangana Ranaut has made headlines once again with her candid revelations about her career struggles and personal challenges. In a recent interview with News24.com, the actress disclosed that she felt as if she had been given “deshnikala” — or exiled from her own country — due to lack of work for over eight years in Bollywood.

During the interview, Kangana reflected on her early career and the struggles that followed. “When I entered Mumbai in 2004, and soon after in 2005-2006 with films like Gangster and Woh Lamhe, I was praised for my acting range. I played a gangster, a schizophrenic, a drug-addicted supermodel, and more. Yet, despite these accolades, I stopped receiving work,” she explained.

Kangana’s career took a sudden downturn, leaving her without significant opportunities for nearly a decade. “We’re not talking about just one or two years of struggle,” she said. “Imagine enduring uncertainty for years. It’s incredibly challenging. I was told repeatedly that my acting was too good, which ironically worked against me in Bollywood. There was a pervasive belief that someone like me couldn’t fit into the industry’s mold.”

The actress described her attempts to find work during this period, including moving to the United States. “I felt as if I had been exiled from my own country. I bought a house in Calabasas, hired an agent, and even directed a short film there. The system seemed to force those to leave who were too good,” she added.

Kangana’s move to the US marked a significant chapter in her life. However, her fortunes changed with the release of Queen in 2014. This film, produced by a new production house and directed by a fresh talent, allowed her to reestablish herself in India. “It was a time when the audience wanted to see authentic stories about their own people, rather than foreign influences. After Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, I felt a renewed sense of freedom and power in my own country,” she shared.

Addressing her critics, Kangana questioned why her perspective and contributions were met with criticism. She said, “Kyu aap mere perspective ko accept nahi kar sakte. Kyu mujhe gaali galoch kiya jaata hai. Mujhe iss desh se nikaal diya gaya tha. Aur aisa kaun kehta hai ki mujhe Sainiko ka sammaan nahi hai. Main aisa kyu kehti Subhash Chandra Bose humare first PM the, (kyuki) unhone Azad Hind Fauj banaya tha. Aap unko discredit kar sakte hai toh wo theek hai, lekin main kisi ko credit dedu toh wo theek nahi hai?
