Kareena Kapoor Misses Uncle Rajiv Kapoor On Death Anniversary, Shares Rare Photo
Taking to her Instagram handle, Kareena shared a black and white picture of Rajiv Kapoor from his early days.

Rajiv Kapoor, the youngest son of Raj Kapoor, died on 9 February, back in 2021. He passed away at the age of 58 after he suffered a heart attack. On his second death anniversary, Kareena Kapoor fondly remembered her uncle and shared an unseen, rare picture of him from her own gallery. Taking to her Instagram handle, the actress shared a black-and-white picture of Rajiv Kapoor from his early days.

In the caption, along with the picture, Kareena wrote, “You will always be in our hearts.” Rajiv Kapoor made his Bollywood debut in 1983 with Ek Jaan Hain Hum and has since appeared in films such as Aasmaan, Lover Boy, Zabardast, and Hum To Chale Pardes. He last worked in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Toolsidas Junior. Rajiv Kapoor has also donned the director’s hat and made the 1996 film PremGranth, which starred his late brother Rishi Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit-Nene.

Earlier, in an interview with Yahoo News, Randhir Kapoor expressed his feelings about losing his brothers. He said, “I am finding it difficult to come to terms with life. As though my two hands are gone. The dominant fear was that anything could happen to my brother Rishi. After all, he was suffering from cancer. We visited him turn by turn, when he was being treated in America. But no one imagined that Rajiv would pass away so soon.”

Randhir recalled that he and Rajiv lived together at their bungalow in Chembur. He further expressed that he felt bad that Rajiv could not achieve much in Bollywood despite his first film being a success. He said, “Rajiv had an unfortunate marriage (the late actor was married to Aarti Sabharwal in 2001), which lasted for only for two months. He had many unfortunate episodes in his life, which led him astray. There was deep frustration, which caused him to neglect his professional life. His life missed a swing. Ironically, he was the most talented of the Kapoors. He even directed a film (Prem Granth, 1996), which sadly failed.”

Rajiv’s brother also shared that he was quite excited about being part of Toolsidas Junior. Randhir Kapoor said, “ He was excited that he’d now be getting good character roles,” but unfortunately, he could not see its release. Toolsidas Junior was released in 2022.
