Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, one of Hollywood’s most successful actor-director duos, are set to team up again for their seventh feature film collaboration. Their previous collaborations have resulted in cinematic gems such as Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island and The Wolf of Wall Street. Their latest joint venture, Killers of the Flower Moon, received widespread critical acclaim and earned an impressive 10 Academy Award nominations. This time, they will also be joined by actress Jennifer Lawrence. Now, the much-anticipated next project from Scorsese and DiCaprio has been in the news.
As reported by Variety, Scorsese’s upcoming film is said to be a biopic of the iconic Frank Sinatra, with DiCaprio playing the legendary singer. Joining him in this film is Jennifer Lawrence, who is set to portray Sinatra’s second wife, the renowned actress Ava Gardner.
This movie would mark the seventh collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio, and the second time that DiCaprio and Lawrence share the screen. They worked together earlier in Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up. Notably, this would also be Lawrence’s first collaboration with the acclaimed director.
Martin Scorsese, 81, shows no signs of slowing down, as he reportedly plans to film two movies back to back. The first of these is said to be a film based on a 1973 book titled A Life of Jesus by Shusaku Endo. It will be followed by the Frank Sinatra biopic.
This movie will center around the iconic figure Francis Albert Sinatra, the Chairman of the Board and Ol’ Blue Eyes. Sinatra, an American singer and actor, remains one of the most beloved artists of the mid-20th century. His enduring legacy includes an estimated 150 million record sales worldwide.
Some of his timeless classics such as Fly Me to the Moon, My Way and The Way You Look Tonight remain popular to this day. The legendary singer passed away on May 14 at the age of 82.
Despite the anticipation, we might still have to wait for a while before the film comes to life. According to Variety, the singer’s daughter, Tina, who looks after her father’s estates at present, has not yet approved the film.
