Actor Nitish Bharadwaj reportedly filed a police complaint against his wife, Smita Gate, who works as the Additional Chief Secretary at MP Human Rights Commission, alleging harassment and unruly behaviour. According to a report from Free Press Journal, Nitish approached the Bhopal police commissioner on Wednesday and submitted a written complaint against his wife.
According to the report, Nitish accused Smita in his complaint of preventing him from meeting their twin daughters, Devyani and Shivranjani. He also alleged that his wife has been changing their daughters’ schools to hinder his access to them, which he claims has negatively impacted his mental well-being.
He has reportedly asked the CP to help him see his daughters. The report also said that Investigating Officer Phalguni Dixit is looking into the case. Nitish Bharadwaj and his wife Smita, who is an IAS officer, filed for divorce after being married for 12 years. They got married in 2009 and separated in September 2019. Smita and their daughters currently live in Indore.
Talking about their divorce which is still pending before the court, he had earlier told The Times Of India, “All I can say is that sometimes divorce can be more painful than death as you live with an amputated core.” He had added, “It’s the children who suffer the most when a family breaks down. So, the onus is on the parents to ensure that there’s minimum collateral damage that their children have to go through.”
Nitish is best known for playing Lord Krishna in the hit TV series Mahabharat. He has also starred in other popular shows and films like Vishnu Puran, Mohenjo Daro, Kedarnath and Samantar Seasons 1-2. Bharadwaj’s portrayal of Lord Krishna was highly admired and adored by the audience and became a demigod with the character.
