Jayasurya, who recently made headlines when a female colleague accused him of sexual assault, has denied the allegations. The Malayalam actor was interrogated by the Kerala police on Tuesday and he called himself a ‘living martyr.’
As reported by Manorama, the Kerala police interrogated Jayasurya in connection with the rape case which a female colleague had filed against him. The police summoned him to the Cantonment police station, Thiruvananthapuram at 10 am. The actor denied the allegations and said he does not need anticipatory bail. He said, “I completely deny the allegations. This is a fabricated case. I don’t even need anticipatory bail.”
Jayasurya called the accusations ‘false’ and discussed how it could ‘destabilize many families.’ The actor continued, “It’s alarming that people are making such false accusations against anyone. At least I have a platform to make my case. Many others don’t do this. It could destabilize many families.”
Mathrubhumi quoted the actor saying, “I am facing two false accusations. A woman has been talking in various places, implying that it is me, but later, she has denied it in several instances… I will fight this legally until the accusations against me are proven false. I believe I am a living martyr.”
The Kerala police have initiated a second sexual assault investigation against the actor after allegations from a female actor who accused him of molestation on a film set near Thodupuzha between 2012 and 2013 came to light. In response to these allegations, the Kerala government has established a seven-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine the matter. A fresh FIR has been filed against him at the Karamana police station, invoking Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which addresses assault or the use of criminal force against a woman with the intention to insult her modesty. Additionally, Section 354C, about voyeurism, has also been applied.
These claims have emerged alongside the release of the Hema Committee report, which has highlighted sexual assault incidents within the Malayalam film industry. As the report went public, it prompted several female actors to come forward and share their own experiences regarding the prevalent issues of sexual abuse in Mollywood.
