Nivin Pauly BREAKS Silence on 'Baseless' Sexual Harassment Allegations: 'I'm Determined to Go to...'
Nivin Pauly denies sexual harassment allegations, calling them baseless. He vows to take legal action against those responsible.

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly has publicly responded to sexual harassment allegations made against him. Taking to Instagram, Nivin issued a strong denial, labelling the accusations as false and baseless. In his statement, he emphasised his commitment to proving his innocence and vowed to take all necessary legal actions against those responsible for the accusations.

“I have come across a false news report accusing me of abusing a girl. Please know that this is entirely untrue. I’m determined to go to any extent to prove these allegations are baseless and will take all necessary steps to bring those responsible to light. Thank you for your concern. The rest will be handled legally,” Nivin wrote.

The allegations reportedly involve a case filed against Nivin and five others, including Malayalam producer AK Sunil, under accusations of sexually assaulting a woman. The woman claims the assault occurred under the pretext of offering her a role in a movie. According to reports from Malayalam channel Reporter Live, the incident took place in Dubai last November. The Oonnukal police have registered the case and are planning to transfer it to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the government to look into these new allegations.

These allegations come amid a broader reckoning in the Malayalam film industry, where multiple cases of sexual assault have surfaced, drawing widespread attention. This wave of revelations began after the Justice Hema Committee Report, which highlighted systemic issues of sexual misconduct in the industry, was made public earlier this month. So far, First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against nine industry figures, including actors Mukesh, Siddique, Jayasurya, and Edavela Babu, as well as directors Ranjith and V.K. Prakash. These complaints have been filed by actresses who have come forward with their experiences of exploitation.

The situation has prompted reactions from various quarters of the industry. Notably, veteran actor Mohanlal recently resigned from his position as the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). The resignation came after mounting pressure and criticism over the association’s handling of sexual harassment complaints. The entire 17-member executive committee of AMMA, under Mohanlal’s leadership, also submitted their resignations, signaling a significant shift in the Malayalam film industry’s approach to handling such allegations.
